Role: Senior Engineer

Pipers Crisps are recruiting for a Senior Engineer. This is predominantly a shift-based role currently on a double-days Monday to Friday pattern. You will lead and manage the company’s engineering resource as well as all engineering aspects of your shift. This role reports into the Factory Manager.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Hands on management of shift engineering activity including planned maintenance, breakdowns and continuous improvement work.
  • Root cause analysis of all downtime.
  • Ownership of the site planned maintenance programme and responsibility for compliance.
  • Engineering ownership of engineering stores inventory control.
  • Ensure that company health and safety standards are complied with and safe working practices are always adopted.
  • Ownership for projects as and when required.
  • Management of service contracts.
  • Working with team leaders and their operators to optimise equipment and ensure short interval control targets are hit.
  • Knowledge holder for all site utilities, facilities and services.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Time served (or equivalent technical training) – multiskilled with electrical bias.
  • Minimum 3 years in FMCG environment.
  • PLC fault finding skills.
  • Working knowledge of invertors and control systems.
  • Working knowledge of fluid mechanics and drive systems.
  • Working knowledge of pneumatics.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience of using LEAN manufacturing methodologies including 5-whys, DMAIC, SIC.
  • Welding and machining experience.
  • Knowledge of site services.
  • Knowledge of fryers.
  • Health and safety qualifications.
